CALIFORNIA - LOS ANGELES - January 23, 1990

The next day, cousin Judy offered to take me to Universeal Studios. That was sure to be a fun time.

We connected with Interstate 110 and headed North towards downtown LA. In the process, we passed the harbor and the polluted refinery district. (I have always had an awful time catching my breath in this area.)

Continuing along, we encountered a significant amount of highway construction. (As if LA needed more roads.) Concrete pylons and girders were being placed side by side and driving surfaces criss-crossed each other like a bow on a Christmas package.

Soon, we approached the heart of the city, where more building was going on. A number of major office towers were in various stages of completion. It was all a part of the late '80s building boom.

Giving central LA a glancing blow, we neared our entertaining destination.
