CONNECTICUT - HARTFORD - September 26, 2003

OK, my first destination on road trip 3 was South Windsor, Connecticut, near Hartford, the state capitol. Above you will find shots from one of two excursions into Hartford. Featured are two photos of the state capitol dome, which was particularly ornate. I was very impressed with its detailed gothic architecture.

One unexpected aspect of New England, that happened to give me a small dose of culture shock, was the big emphasis on Halloween. It happened to only be the second week of September, yet loads of houses were fully decorated, both inside and out, with substantial Halloween decorations. Added to that, I was a bit amused to find a church on Beelzebub Road and a street called Hitchcock Way. Although curious, I was a tad bit apprehensive to continue exploring and see what other witchy subject matter awaited me around the next corner. Fortunately, time did not allow.
