DISCLAIMER: The information contained in this newsletter comes from a wide variety of sources and is selected for publication solely by the newsletter's editor/creator Tom Palmer. Welcome to the first edition of the James Burke Connection News Update. This e-mail newsletter, and the ones that follow will contain a variety of recently acquired information on (the somewhat elusive) science historian James Burke. Newsletter topics will include: broadcasts of Burke TV programs, a calendar of Mr. Burke's upcoming lectures, results of seach engine searches, recent Burke items for sale on the eBay auction site, and a standard list of Burke books and videos that can be purchased online.

I hope you enjoy this information and will find it worthwhile. If so, please feel free to forward this newsletter to friends and co-workers that you think will also enjoy its contents. In the coming months, I will make an effort to polish the newsletter and make it more professional looking.

Sincerely, Tom Palmer

A MESSAGE FROM JAMES BURKE (Jan. 11, 2002)
---------
"The book is coming along well and (so far!) on schedule. MS is due with the publisher (Simon & Schuster) August 1, for a late autumn publication. As the book moves along, it looks like I'll be changing the title. To what, not yet known!"

"The web project goes well, thanks to help from a group of very dedicated and highly qualified pro bono people in Silicon Valley and around the country (the web will go online free when it's ready). We meet virtually (and less often in real world). Main need at the moment is for help in researching the 400 x 1000-wd biographies left to do (I've done 1800), so if anybody out there is a grad student or in the academic world and feels like helping, I'd be glad to hear from them (via you)."

"That's it for the moment!
Best regards
James"
