| CALIFORNIA - LOS ANGELES - April 21, 2004
In the afternoon, I visited Los Angeles proper. Sneaking up on the city, it was fairly easy to stop and take pictures from any good vantage point that happened to present itself. Entering the downtown melee of crowded streets and intersections, this become far more difficult. Central LA certainly has a fine complement of skyscapers, but, being in a major earthquake zone, these are limited in number and design. The most noticeable structures in the city are, of course, those featured most frequently in movies and television programs. These include the US Bank Tower and Los Angeles City Hall. For interiors, the beautiful Los Angeles Union Station is often used. In addition to those, downtown LA has a great assortment of architectural examples, one of which is the Gas Company Tower. It can be recognized by it's tuning fork appearance. |
