| ILLINOIS - I-88 CORRIDOR (CHICAGO) - June 24, 2004
In the afternoons following my suburban photo shoots, I explored the fascinating world of Chicago's I-88 Research Corridor. There were all sorts of great looking buildings along this route and I wanted to photograph them all. Two of the first buildings were nearly impossible to pass up. They belonged to Lucent / Bell Labs and featured a curved metal canopy and a dish-covered atrium. Next came a building with stark geometric components, one that housed the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Then there was the giant tan and aqua "N". Other intriguing buildings belonged to Budget Rent-A-Car, Tellabs and Spiegel. The Illinois Toll Highway Authority had a thought-provoking surface that made it look as though it had been pinned together with oversized metal clips. |
