| INDIANA - I-80 - June 28, 2004
Monday, it was off to Indiana, this time to Fort Wayne. Along the way, I was hoping to stop and see the unusual Indiana Welcome Center that I visited last time I was in the area. Unfortunately, the exit I needed to take was blocked by some heavy-duty construction. I gave up on this momentarily, until I saw an outrageous display of inflatable beings huddled on top of a building, all defying me to ignor them. Well, I couldn't. I traced the nearby frontage road around with my eyes and realised it might connect with the upcoming exit. Turning off the Interstate, I located the service road I was seeking. Patiently following it around, I came across both the provocative mob of mutants and the friendly rest stop. Stopping to photograph the strange collection of gas-filled creatures, I came to understand that people in Indiana really love their fireworks. As time went by, I encountered more and more of the extremely visible fireworks distributors that generated this impression. I also witnessed the obligatory hot pink show car being shuttled cross country by its owner. |
