Before leaving Des Moines I drove down to where the official state buildings are and was taken back by the beauty and elegance of the capitol building itself. The capitol has 5 domes, one a bright, reflective gold, and 4 others that are forest green and edged in a golden trim. The capitol building exudes a stately aire which is accentuated by a series of rising columns along its front entrance.
