| IOWA - I-29 & I-80 - June 17, 2004
Outside the big cities, most of Iowa contained the predictable elements; barns, silos and plenty of food-growing equipment. Enjoying the aesthetics of the rural landscape, I relish the chance to stop and photograph agricultural buildings, particularly metal grain elevators. I love both their simple geometric shapes and the intricate detailed mechanisms that connect up to them. The collection of pieces generally makes for a thought-provoking abstract composition. Now that I have talked to a few people in the area, rustic old barns have been brought to my attention. I will probably be on the lookout for them in the future as well. |
