SOUTH CAROLINA - I-85 - April 16, 2005

For most of my journey through South Carolina, I was forced to enjoy the state through visits to its roadside rest stops. These were quite pleasing, especially since Spring was coming on. The one particular facility I feature here was set in a wooded area right next to a lake. There were soaring fir trees everywhere and pine cones covered the ground. You can imagine the aroma.

Here and there were a number of small trees that exhibited lovely white blossoms. These were well placed accents to the overall scene. (Thanks to the landscapers!) Peering through the slender treetrunks, one could see and hear speedboats as the occasionally whizzed past. You could tell that the folks on the water were having a wonderful time. If only I could have hitched a brief ride.

And before moving along, I must also commend South Carolina on its rest stop recycing efforts. Good job.
