FLORIDA - TAMPA - January 15, 2006

Sunday morning Riccardo took me to a popular spot for brunch, Nicko's diner. You can always count on a local diner to be packed on the weekends and we weren't disappointed. There were a couple of stools waiting for us at the counter, and we quickly took advantage of them. The friendly waitress jotted down our orders and before long we were consuming filling portions of tasty nourishment. Yum.

Following our trip to this shiney establishment, we decided to walk off our meal by touring the University of South Florida campus, where Riccardo teaches. The first thing that drew my attention was all of the modern buildings. Unlike many universities, this one was exclusively populated by fairly new structures. USF had its fair share of halls, yet there was a comfortable amount of space between them. It wasn't crowded at all. Quite serene.

We parked in the center of the campus and wandered around for an hour or so. Being a holiday weekend, students were mostly elsewhere. This left the neighborhood squirrels and cats hungrily eyeing us for treats.

Once we had had enough of the grounds, we took Riccardo's car in for a lube and I made a brief drive to the coast to see what it was like.
