| FLORIDA - SAINT AUGUSTINE - January 19, 2006
It seems like every time I visit a place, there's always something I want to go back and see more of. In the case of St. Augustine, these would be the lucious buildings along King Street. It turns out that my two objects of desire were both spectacular hotels in days gone by. At present they are occupied by Flagler College and the Lightner Museum. Standing across from one another, these ornate terracotta and concrete structures embody what is known as the "Spanish Renaissance Revival" style. And they look great. I'm definitely going to have to return and study this beautiful form of architecture. |
