On the first two nights of the convention our group attended two catered parties at Universal Studios. The first gathering contained members of the NAHB's Gold Key Club. The second event included any builder with a vowel in their name.

Our initial celebration took us past the Citywalk area back into a studio backlot designed to resemble old New York City. As we entered, we were offered drinks and were greeted by famous Universal Studios characters: Shrek, Scoobie-Doo, Betty Boop, Marilyn Monroe, Spongebob, Woody Woodpecker and others.
