IOWA - AMANA - April 23, 2006

While traveling in Iowa, I learned that the ladies from our camping group were going to convene at a house in Amana. Originally, I had decided not to visit Amana or Iowa City, but Christy offered me a place to stay, so I headed in that direction. As fate would have it, I wound up staying with friends Jack and Anne in Iowa City. As a result, there was no need to take advantage of the coach where the girls were staying.

On my way back to Kansas City, I drove over to the Amana Colonies in hopes of catching the girls before they scattered. Luckily, all but one was still there, so I was able to chat for a few minutes with my freinds.

On the way out of the area I noticed a sign for the Cedar Rapids rabbit breeder's show. Being close by, I couldn't pass up a chance to look over these adorable creatures. I used to have rabbits of my own and am quite fond of them.

I wish I had known about this display earlier, because when I arrived, bunnies were being wheeled out of the facility. Happily, though, there were enough cute critters inside to make the visit an enjoyable experience. I wandered around the clusters of cages and marveled at all the different kinds of rabbits there were in attendence.
