In the process of taking pictures in Fairfield, I had driven by a large golden dome on my way out of town to Sigourney. Later, as I had a free moment, I stopped by this curious structure to see what it was about. In front, I discovered a sign stating "Mararishi University of Management". This combination of terms perplexed me a bit, so I continued in.

Driving up past a second shimmering dome, I encountered a small community of mobile homes. At one entrance, a sign read "Utopia Park". This, too, was somewhat confounding. Seeking more information, I picked up the phone and dialed Rich, my New Age guru buddy. I said, "I'm in Fairfield, Iowa." No sooner did I say this than he announced, "You're at the international headquarters of Transcendental Meditation". Now things started to make sense. Sort of.

Rich explained to me what was going on here, as did later, the builder I was shooting for. The builder added the important fact that the Maharishi was the famous Yogi the Beatles sought out back in the 1960's.
