The setting sun brought a whole new crowd to Guavaween. The next wave was alive and eager to get the party going. Both the space in the street and list of predictable costumes were starting to fill in. Towards seven o'clock, pretty much one of everything was in visible range. At this point, the parade was still roughly an hour away, so the crowd wandered aimlessly as it had been doing all along, only more so. Photographers were hawking their services and barmaids were beckoning customers to come have a brew. There were three stages set up and music was pouring out from each of them. All the while, floats parked behind the main thoroughfare where being set up and manned. On one of my orbits, I decided to follow the floats to their conclusion. As I did, I discovered a whole other party going on, one made up of the bead-throwing crews. They were basically loitering, drinking and smoking and waiting for the spectacle to commence. |
