FLORIDA - GULFPORT & SUNSET BEACH - February 02, 2008

On our fifth trip out to photograph the region, tourguide Myron and I completed the circle of Tampa we began a few short weeks back. The goal of this excursion was to head west to the Gulf and then drive north along the beaches.

Our adventure first took us to the small town of Gulfport. There was a Florida collectibles show going on and Mryon wanted to stick his head in for a peek. As expected the hall was filled with tons of artwork and tourist memorabilia from Florida's past.

On our way out of Gulfport, we decided we needed a snack, so we stopped off for a pint of smoked fish spread at Ted Peters local eatery. It was delicious.

Before turning north onto Gulf Boulevard, we ventured south into a reclusive community called Sunset Beach.

Reaching the end of the road, we parked and took a quick look at the beach. The weather being perfect, we found lots of relaxing sunbathers spread across the sand-covered landscape. To my surprise, there was also a collection of swimmers carrying surfboards into the relatively tranquil waters.
