CALIFORNIA - CAMBRIA - July 31, 2002

On my way back from San Simeon, I badly needed to stop for a rest room break. I saw a sign for what appeared to be a small town, tucked away off the main road, and took the exit. What I found, aside from a very convenient community bathroom, was a totally delightful city, well-groomed and ready for visitors.

Cambria really has its act together. Comfortable, friendly, good-looking, packed with everything you might want. As you can see, Cambria prides itself in being appealing. All of the restaurants and cafes had plenty of happy patrons as did the numerous boutiques filled with enticing nick-nacks. I would guess that the property values are really high here, judging from the homes I saw tucked away in the wooded areas here and about.

All in all, I would guess that little Cambria is probably well-known in its area, although I had never heard of it. It looks like the type of place that would draw in shoppers and diners from miles around.
