NEVADA - LAS VEGAS - August 05, 2002

The next morning, I decided to take in as many of the new hotels as I could before getting on the road. In the two hours I alloted, I managed to see quite a bit.

Making my way south down the LV strip from Fremont Street, I came across the tall Stratosphere tower. This hotel supposedly has a small rollercoaster at the top. I can only imagine what that must be like.

Another hotel that radiply came into view was Treasure Island. I stayed at this hotel the last time I was in Vegas. It actually has two functional pirate ships that float in front of a small seacoast village and do battle periodically. Quite a spectacle to witness. Inside, the world-famous theater company Cirque Du Soleil puts on a wonderful stage show called "Mystere". I was lucky enough to see a performance when the ticket prices were a bit more reasonable.

Down from Treasure Island is an elegant new hotel called Bellagio. This hotel boasts a beautifully choreographed water show that eminates from the large relfecting pool that sets directly in front of the property. The interiors of this hotel are quite upscale and I have been told the lobby features a unique multi-piece blown-glass sculpture by renowned artist Dale Chihuly.
