NEVADA - LAS VEGAS - August 05, 2002
As I flitted about looking at all of the latest hotels and casinos, I couldn't help passing a number of the recent classics. Perhaps the most notable of these was Caesar's Palace, a Las Vegas fixture that is known to practically everyone. It seems to me that Caesar's Palace had undergone some renovation since my last visit. I think a number of hotels had. Probably to keep pace with all of the new construction going on. Anyway, Caesar's Palace seemed a rather grand and glorious place, judging from its opulent exterior. On the far side of New York, New York sat another modern treasure, Excaliber. Excaliber, a storybook castle of sorts, continued to retain its charming pose, complete with fanciful towers and turrets. Across from NYNY, is the mighty MGM Grand hotel. This hotel, again, appears to have a brand new look. Gone is the giant emerald lion that made up the previous entrance. The only reference to Leo now is a golden sculpture sitting regally in front of the new lobby. And finally there is the Alladin, which looks dramatically different from my memories of years gone by. |
