NEW MEXICO - SANTA FE - August 07, 2002

Ahhh! Santa Fe. One of my very favorite cities to visit. It's a shame I only get to spend a few hours every time I pass through.

To me Santa Fe is a sensory delight. The colors, the aromas, the tastes, the textures and the feel of electricity in the air. No wonder there are so many artists and craftspeople here.

One of the things that makes Santa Fe such an interesting and sensual place is the architecture. Evidently there is some building code, or perhaps a local conspiracy that says every home and shop and office must be made from adobe and wood. Of course, I'm sure that many of Santa Fe's organic-looking buildings are fashioned from concrete that has been painted to look like adobe. Whichever is the case, the properties of Santa Fe, more times than not, conform to a design aesthetic that is simply beautiful and rustic.
