NEW MEXICO - SANTA FE - August 07, 2002
Another inviting aspect of Santa Fe is the food. The SouthWest cooking here is great! While in town, I happened across the "Cowgirl Hall of Fame" and went in for a bite. This cafe has more barbeque than Southwestern cooking, but I had an ulterior motive for visiting. All in all, I had a delicious meal and went on my merry way. For a half an hour or so, I wandered the downtown square, poking my head into the various shops and restaurants. There are all sorts of things to buy here, including those you might suspect most. Many of the stores are devoted to Southwestern jewelry, clothing, artwork and nick-nacks for the home. Other outfitters concentrate on cooking utensils and ingredients, particularly chili peppers. On certain days, native American merchants line the sidwalks selling various items they have made. |
